2, 2014 @ 7:00 AM CMA says more info needed on medical marijuana Edmonton, AB, Canada / iNews880 Joel Lefevre May 26, 2014 03:24 pm Medical marijuana has been a hotly debated topic in Canada and one that many doctors have been cautioning people against. Despite new regulations for the drug being put in place in Canada April 1st, the Canadian Medical Association has been strongly opposed to it, claiming the new regulations dont address physicians long-standing concerns about the drug. CMA President Dr. Louis Francescutti tells 630 CHEDs Tencer and Grose that theres not enough concrete information when it comes to medical marijuana. There may be some patients that may benefit from some active ingredient, Im not arguing that but lets find out what the active ingredient is and give it to the patient in the proper way says Francescutti. Under the new law all marijuana used for medical purposes must be purchased through licensed producers. The CMA has said they do not support the medical use of marijuana because they have questions about its safety, efficacy, dosage and delivery.
