Health Canada has authorized Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:NEPT) to market the plant-based natural hand sanitizers. It is also working with the federal research and development organization in Canada – NRC for supporting the efforts of NRC to develop, produce and market solutions to contain coronavirus.
Plant-based sanitizer kills 99.9% of bacteria and germs
Neptune will make use of expertise in the formulation to develop and produce plant-based sanitizers that effectively eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and germs. Its ingredients include fruit extracts and essential oils. Neptune will take the help of contract manufacturers and utilize the processing and production facilities based in Conover, North Carolina, and Sherbrooke, Quebec for formulation and production.
Health Canada issues NPN to Neptune
Health Canada has granted NPN (Natural Product Number) and product license to Neptune after assessing the plant-based hand sanitizer products and ensuring that it is effective and safe in killing the bacteria and germs. Neptune will fix the product label to provide confidence to the customers that its products are approved and reviewed by Health Canada.
Fast tracks FDA registration
Neptune is working with the US FDA to fast track registration and manufacture and market hand sanitizer products and formulations from its Conover, North Carolina facility to meet the demand for hand sanitizer products in North America.
Hand Sanitizer products supply in summer 2020
Neptune is sourcing raw materials for the expected launch of hand sanitizers in summer 2020. The company will market hand sanitizer formulations to the retailers, who intend to sell private level brands, and consumer packaged goods. It plans to offer its plant-based hand sanitizers to the customers in Canada and the US through private label brands. It will also ensure the supply of hand sanitizer products to the healthcare systems and governments in Canada and the US through indirect and direct channels.
